This page is a "to remember" page to honor the lives of 4000 children living in Paris who were murdered in Auschwitz. My objective in this group is to list photos and information about these children.
Please plant blue cornflowers in your garden.
THE GESTAPO: The Third Reich's secret political police force, served as Hitler's main instrument of torture and terror. They created the celebration for these four thousand children to enhance their ability to collect and extract Jewish children from Paris, France.
The Summer of 1942:
These children were excited and happy to be invited to a party. All residents of the beautiful City of Paris France, they lived near La Tour Eiffel. Life for them recently had been stressful because Hitler invaded Northern France and life in Paris was not the same.
Although families were required to attend the party, it was none the less, exciting for the children to get dressed up to have their photos taken prior to playing games and eating ice-cream on such a hot day. August was usually the month families went to the seashore to avoid the heat but everyone was required to stay home by the occupying Germans who were currently in control.
Mothers chatted with the children about how much fun it would be and everyone got dressed and went over to the athletic center near the Eiffel Tower where the party was being hosted.
As families entered the building they were greeted and escorted to a room set up for photographs where children were given props to hold.
Little girls got to choose which purse they wanted to pose with and little boys got to choose stuffed animals from a box or they could be posed by three goldfish swimming in a bowl on a table. It made all the children laugh.
Parents were pleased to see their happy children.
It was a fun afternoon.
While the children socialized, laughed with other young guests and enjoyed popcorn, cookies and ice cream parents were asked to fill out forms required by the city that included names and birthdates of all family members and their address in Paris.
